The Glutathione Reductase Activity Assay Kit (cat. KB03040-100T) provides a spectrophotometric method for quantifying glutathione reductase (GR) enzyme activity in plant tissues, microbial extracts, erythrocytes, and other biological samples.
Glutathione reductase (GR) is a key enzyme in the glutathione redox cycle, catalyzing the NADPH-dependent reduction of oxidized glutathione (GSSG) back to reduced glutathione (GSH). It plays a central role in maintaining the intracellular GSH/GSSG ratio and protecting cells against oxidative stress. The kit measures the NADPH oxidation rate at 340 nm as an indirect measure of GR activity, expressed as nmol NADPH/min/mg protein.
